Update: October 30, 2007

The Backup Man opens in Montreal November 2

After a successful launch in Atlantic Canada, the feature comedy THE BACKUP MAN is moving west and will open in two theatres in Montreal for one week engagements beginning November 2. The film, a Cinegraphe/News-Cast.Com co-production distributed by Carlton Films, opens at both the Guzzo Cinemas Mega - Plex Spheretech 14 in Ville St.Laurent (3500 Cote-Vertu, north of the Met) and the AMC Forum 22 (Atwater) at 2313 Ste-Catherine Ouest.

Producers Nicholas Kinsey and Producer-Director Doug Sutherland hope that Montrealers will come out and support the film - which features several prominent members of the local acting community.

Were very excited about this, says Sutherland,  Originally we were scheduled for one screen, (Guzzo Cinemas Spheretech) - which is exciting enough for a small independent picture -  but we just received word yesterday that AMC has scheduled us for November 2nd as well at the Forum 22. Were very happy that both Guzzo and AMC are putting us in front of their audiences.e

"We're hoping to continue our move west next month into Ontario, " says Nicholas Kinsey, "Other plans include a New England release after Christmas, but first we need to get a U.S. rating which will take a while."

For now, though, Kinsey and Sutherland are concentrating their efforts on the coming week in Montreal.

We have a lot of confidence in the picture,  says Sutherland,  Everybody whos seen it loves it. The trick is to get people in the theatres so they can see for themselves.e
